Privacy policy

This policy explains what information SignageDock collects, why, and what we do with it. SignageDock is operated by PESYSTEMS LLC in Novi, Michigan ("we", "us"). It covers the SignageDock editor, display pages and apps, and these web pages.

In short: we collect what we need to run your screens and bill you. We don't sell your information, we don't use advertising trackers, and card numbers are handled by Stripe, not by us.

What we collect

Account details: your business name, the names and email addresses of the users on your account, and their passwords, which we store only in a scrambled (hashed) form that can't be read back.
Your content: the layouts, playlists, schedules, text, pictures, videos and fonts you add.
Screen information: the names you give your screens, when they're online, what they're playing, a log of which layouts played and when, and occasional screenshots of what each screen is showing, so you can check on your screens remotely.
Billing details: Stripe processes payments. We receive your Stripe customer number, your subscription's status, the number of display licenses, and trial and renewal dates. We never see or store your full card number.
Technical logs: like most online services, our servers record IP addresses, browser types, the pages and files requested, and errors. We use these to keep the service secure and working.
Messages: what you send us when you email or call us.

Cookies and browser storage

The editor uses a cookie to keep you signed in. It's needed for the service to work.
Screens store their pairing details and copies of your pictures and videos in the browser's own storage, so they can play smoothly and keep going during short outages.
We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Stripe's checkout and billing pages set their own cookies, mainly to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy.

How we use it

To run SignageDock: store your content, send it to your screens and show you their status.
To send account emails, such as confirming your email address, resetting a password, and notices about your subscription and payments.
To bill you and keep the records the law requires.
To answer your questions, fix problems and keep the service secure.

We don't sell your information or share it for advertising, and we don't use your content for anything other than running the service for you.

Who we share it with

Service providers that help us run SignageDock: our hosting provider, our email provider (to deliver account emails) and Stripe (payments). They get only what they need to do that work.
Content providers your screens use: if a layout includes a YouTube video, a web page, or pictures or videos linked from another website (such as the pictures in news headlines), the screen loads them directly from that site, which then sees the screen's IP address and follows its own privacy policy. Weather, news headlines and data feeds are fetched through our servers, so those providers don't see your screens.
When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers, the public or us.
If our business changes hands, your information would move to the new owner under this policy.

How long we keep it

Your account details and content are kept while you have an account.
When a subscription ends, we keep your media for 30 days in case you come back, and then delete it. You can ask us to delete your whole account at any time.
Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require.
Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.

Security

All connections to SignageDock are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored hashed, and each business's data is kept separate from every other business's. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.

Your choices

Administrators can see and change their account's information and content in SignageDock at any time. You can also ask us to send you a copy of your information, correct it or delete it; email us and we'll answer within 30 days.

Where your information is kept

SignageDock is run from the United States, and your information is stored there.

Children

SignageDock is a service for businesses and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a significant way, we'll tell account administrators by email or in SignageDock before the change takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
